Latin music, at its heart, was always about the culture, the people, and the music.

It’s a beautiful thing, but there’s something deeply wrong with the way we present that culture, and how we present our own histories and their histories.

That’s where our modern music, and what we call “post-punk,” comes in.

This week’s list, released by the National Geographic Society, includes everything from albums from artists like The Strokes to bands like Radiohead and Blink-182 to artists like Beck, Disclosure, and Florence + The Machine.

We asked five artists to share their favorite albums from the ’90’s and ’00s and how they changed the way they listened to music.
