AUSTRALIA is set to get the biggest billboard of the year, with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) saying it will spend $10 million on its $2 billion advertisement campaign for 2020.

The billboard will feature a woman holding a baby and a smiling baby, which has been dubbed ‘the baby of the decade’.

The $10-million billboard campaign, which is expected to be rolled out by the end of 2018, is designed to reach children across Australia and to help people understand why they need the new $100 bill.

It also aims to make the $100 a year more affordable to families with young children, the ABC reported.

The campaign will feature images of smiling, young children and their families on the side of every billboard.

“Aussie families and their children are living longer than ever before and the Australian economy is growing,” ABS head of advertising David Waugh said in a statement.

“The $100 is now a more affordable and universal option to all Australians, especially children.”

Mr Waugh praised the billboard as a “unique opportunity” to reach a broad audience, which he described as “very influential”.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to engage with young people,” he said.

“I think we’re going to see a lot more of that as the year progresses.”

The ABS also announced a new billboard in Sydney’s CBD, featuring the image of a baby wearing a white shirt and shorts, which will also feature an image of the child’s father holding a $1 note.

“It was a big decision to make, we just wanted to put the image where we wanted to see it,” Mr Waugh told the ABC.

“We’ve got some of the most powerful and popular advertising campaigns in Australia and it was a great decision to have that billboard there.”ABC/wires
